Major Project Experience

  • Part of a company-wide team to manage the divestiture of thousands of properties across the country for a global energy company. Assisted with the planning and implementation of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments according to rigid schedules, budgets and safety requirements. Some of the specific tasks accomplished include:
    • Financial management
    • Project milestones tracking using a QMG-created database
    • Reviewing reports
    • Interfacing with the technical consultants and regulators in each specific market
    • Supporting technical consultants in the field
    • Conducting safety audits in the field
    • Information flow management via a web-based SharePoint site
    • Interfacing weekly with the client management team to report progress in each market

  • May 2008 – May 2009: Koppers Inc, Environmental Manager

Manager of global environmental remediation at operating and legacy wood preserving and coal tar distillation sites. Work directly with third party on projects where environmental liability was retained. Responsible for corporate waste management and minimization programs. Set expectations and targets for reduction in hazardous and nonhazardous waste generation, recycling, and vendor selection.

  • October 2001 – February 2008: URS Corporation, Vice President

Responsible for managing alliance partnerships with two key clients. Hired, trained, and supervised a staff of 40 professionals in local and regional offices. Managed revenue of over $15 million annually. Accountable for over 150 properties with identified environmental liabilities. Provided strategic direction and technical support for remediation projects in RCRA, CERCLA, UST, and state voluntary programs. Responsible for identifying and developing innovative technologies and remedial approaches to cost effectively reduce environmental risk over entire real estate portfolios. Provided health and safety training, tracking, and trend reporting.

  • June 1993 – October 2001: Ashland Inc, Senior Environmental Engineer

Managed over $60 million in environmental liability for the corporation with annual expenditures of over $4 million. Provided technical expertise, project direction, and regulatory coordination in the development and implementation of remediation and permitting projects at chemical facilities, refineries, petroleum terminals, and legacy sites worldwide. Responsible for managing emergency response incidents. Led and participated in multi-disciplinary teams of professionals for pre-acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration of global businesses. Provided technical support for third party litigation.
